Parker 51 Aerometric in Teal. Near mint.

Regular price £125.00

Parker introduced the aerometric filling system on the 51 in 1948.  The clip was shortened in 1951. The word 'Superchrome' was removed from the filler sleeve in 1957 and a 'halo' added to the cap in 1958.  This pen has no reference to 'Superchrome' and it does not have a halo so it can be accurately dated to 1957.

The 51 is often described as 'the best pen ever made', it was often copied but never equalled.  This is an outstanding, near mint example, it has a flawless Teal blue finish and a good, deep shine.

The colour is most attractive, it is definitely Blue but has a Green tinge, not a common '51' colour.

The 'Lustralloy' cap is ding free and is fitted with a 'short arrow' clip, pearl coloured end stud and engraved with:

'PARKER'.
It is unusual for the 'frosting' on the main body of the cap to be still in evidence after sixty odd years but this one has held up very well indeed.  It is likely that the pen has only been lightly used in its early life and then left in a drawer and forgotten.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested. The aerometric filling system works well and takes up a good amount of ink.

The 14 Ct. gold nib has a medium point which lays down a very smooth and consistent line, on the broad side, a very pleasant writer.

The box is the original 'Mock croc' model, the correct one for this pen, an English one, and is in excellent condition.

At  sixty odd years old this is a remarkable top quality vintage pen. The 51 is the first choice of many collectors as a daily user, it is totally reliable, stylish and very practical with a great deal of prestige.
