Parker Lady Duofold Set. 1920s

Regular price £155.00

The Parker Duofold appeared in 1921 with the Senior, followed in 1922 by this pen, the Lady Duofold.

The set, comprising a fountain pen and pencil, is made in red hard rubber with a black cap screw and blind cap.  This model pen has a wide gold cap ring which is flush to the surface of the cap.

The pen has been fully, but conservatively restored and is now in excellent working order.  The button filling system with a 'hanging bar' is remarkably efficient.  The process requires only one hand and the pen fills completely with just one press on the button.

The 14Ct Gold nib was made in Canada, it was commonplace for U.S.A. and Canadian made pens to share parts.  It writes with a very nice flex, a person with a decent 'hand' would enjoy producing some impressive work with this pen.

The barrel imprint, clearly showing that this is a 'Lady Parker' is eroded at the very end but otherwise sharp and clear.  The ring on the cap is probably a replacement.  The set retains its original colour without any decolourisation of the hard rubber.  The ridges on the cap stud and blind cap are very sharp and clear.

The box has clearly seen better days, getting on for a hundred years ago, but is of significance as it is clearly the original.  The size of the recesses for the set are correct for this set and the Parker font used is also correct.

Although this is clearly a collector's item the set would serve well as a desk set to be used for letters, signatures, greetings cards, or simply the pleasure of writing with a truly vintage set.
