parker-61-custom-in-charcoal-grey-new-old-stock-with-chalk-mark
Parker 61 Custom in Charcoal Grey. New Old Stock with Chalk Mark.

This Parker 61 Custom, featuring a rolled Gold cap, was made in England in 1970, the last of the 61 capillary fillers.

The tag attached to the clip reads '61. R 21.50 incl. tax', the 'R' is used for rolled gold and the 21.50 is the price, in pounds. 1969 was the last year for American made 61s capillary pens but, as the price is given in decimal currency which began in 1969, tenglish production must have continued into 1970.

The pen is in immaculate condition throughout. The absorbant material in the capillary cell is unstained, indicating no use, and the factory chalk marks are still intact, identifying the pen as a 61 Custom with a medium nib. These marks, meant to be wiped off as the pen is sold, are extremely fragile and would erode quickly as the pen was handled. The price tag is clearly correct,as it cannot be removed without tearing, this one is still intact. The barrel retains its deep factory gloss and the arrow motif on the hood is pristine.

The pen came to me, unboxed, as part of a small batch of new old stock Parkers. It is not at all unusual for new old stock pens to be unboxed as the pens were only matched up with a box at the point of sale, when the chalk marks would usually have been removed.

I have provided a new case for the pen, it will serve well for transportation, protection, and display.

An unused Parker 61 Custom comes along very rarely and is highly collectable.

https://collectablepens.co.uk/products/parker-61-custom-in-charcoal-grey-new-old-stock-with-chalk-mark
