{"product_id":"parker-u-k-duofold-aerometric-in-green","title":"Parker U.K. Duofold Aerometric in Green.","description":"\u003cp\u003eThe \u003cstrong\u003eParker Duofold \u003c\/strong\u003e, along with the smaller Demi version, was the first Aerometric Duofold to be made in the U.K. Newhaven factory, in 1951. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe U.K. Duofolds were made in 4 colours: black, blue, red, and green with green, this pen, being, by far, the least common.  At the time green was considered, by those of a superstitious nature, to be an unlucky colour so, it may well be that sales were limited for this reason.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pen is in excellent condition, with only light usage marks. It has a bright surface, with a legible imprint and the  Gold filling to the clip and decorated cap band is pristine.  The clip is secured by a colour coded 'jewel'. The original 'pli glass' ink sac is unstained, often a sign of little, careful use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pen has been fully serviced and tested.  The 14Ct. Gold nib writes with a smooth, medium line, perhaps a little on the fine side.  A pleasing suggestion of line width variation is available.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe early pens did not have the size number, '25', printed on the nib, generally they carried an 'N' imprint for Newhaven, this nib has an 'R' imprint.  The significance of this letter is, at the moment, unclear.  There is no evidence to suggest it was used for replacement nibs, despite speculation to the contrary.  The lack of a size imprint on the nib and the design of the box would date the pen to around 1953.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 13.2 cm. capped and 14.7 cm. posted the Duofold is an average sized pen in terms of length but is a good deal 'fatter' than most, giving it a very solid, chunky feel. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Parker Aerometric Duofolds of the 1950s were excellent writing instruments which sold very well, despite the competition from the ballpoint.  Parker probably underpriced the pen in order to resist the pressure.  Seventy odd years later the pen is still outstanding value, particularly when compared with a new Gold nibbed pen of similar quality.  It would make a very good vintage daily writer.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Collectablepens","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57399912825216,"sku":null,"price":70.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/4239\/files\/P1180488.jpg?v=1771137997","url":"https:\/\/collectablepens.co.uk\/products\/parker-u-k-duofold-aerometric-in-green","provider":"Collectablepens","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
