Made in the late 1940s, the Burnham 60 is the largest of the post war pens and the only one with the triple narrow/wide/narrow band arrangement, a top of the range pen.
This example is finished in the rare and attractive 'Blue Moire', a lightly mottled and pearlised mid blue. The pen has light usage marks and a short hairline crack from the corner of the lever box but is in very good general condition and, unusually for a Burnham, the gold trim is in particularly good condition. a distinguishing feature of this model is the 'B' engraved on the cap stud.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested, the ink sac was replaced as the old one had hardened with age. the lever filling system works well and takes up a good volume of ink.
At 15.7cm. in length when posted, the Burnham 60 is a large and well balanced pen. The nib is 14 Ct. Gold, it is original and is stamped with 'Burnham 14Ct. Gold' in elaborate script. A smooth writer, the nib has a good flex offering line width variation and adding character to the lettering. A person with a decent 'hand' would be able to produce impressive 'copperplate' style work.
