Mabie Todd Blackbird. 1956.

Regular price £55.00

The Mabie Todd Blackbird pen began production in 1911 until 1956, when this pen, the last of the Blackbirds, was made.  The company ceased all pen manufacture in 1958.

The pen has been restored, tested, and is in excellent working condition.  There is only a remnant of the gold plating on the clip, although that on the lever and cap band have held up very well. The pen has a first class surface and a clear barrel imprint.

The 'lockdown' lever filling system works well and the 14 Ct. gold nib, which carries the Blackbird name with a Swan motif, delivers a smooth, medium line with a suggeation of flex.

Advertised as 'The New Blackbird', the pen had a very short production run, it is one of the more uncommon Blackbirds.
