Mabie Todd Blackbird in Hard Rubber. 1930s

Regular price £75.00

Mabie Todd Blackbird BB2/60

The Mabie Todd Blackbird first appeared in the 1920s, this pen is probably from the early 1930s.  It is a BB2/60 model, this is clearly stamped on the end of the barrel.

It is constructed in Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with nickel plated trim and a 14Ct. Gold nib.  The pen is in excellent condition throughout.  The chasing is still crisp, there is no oxidation in evidence, and the barrel imprint is sharp and clear.

The pen has been restored and tested.  It fills well and the original 14Ct. Gold Blackbird nib, which has a very slight kink, writes well with a small but very pleasing amount of flex.

The Blackbird is a long and elegant pen from a top flight manufacturer.  Unoxidised hard rubber models with clear chasing are very hard to come by.
