Mabie Todd Swan 3260 with Eternal nib

Regular price £90.00

The Mabie Todd Swan 3260 was one of the Swan pens, made, in England, immediately after the cessation of hostilities, in 1946.  Prior to that the machines that had survived the bombings had been dedicated to the war effort.

The pen has been fullly restored and tested, the lever filling system takes up a good volume of ink and the 14Ct. Gold Swan No.2 Eternal nib writes with a smooth, firm, medium to broad line.  The Eternal nib was made from thicker Gold than the standard Swan nib and did not have flex.  It was therefore more robust, perhaps prompting the name 'eternal'.  The nib is straight and correctly aligned.

The surface is first class and the imprints, and there are many of them, are very crisp and clear.  The Gold filling on the clip, lever and cap rings is similarly pristine.

The pen is supplied in a Swan box that has seen better days, but is probably original so should be kept with the pen along with the instruction slip.

At 15.5 cm. posted for use the Swan 3260 is a long and well balanced pen with a solid, high quality feel.  The classic black and Gold filling give it a most attractive yet distinguished appearence.  The robust nature of the Eternal nib makes the pen more suited for use as a vintage daily writer than the standard Swan nib.
