Parker 45 Flighter FP/pencil set. Boxed and immaculate.

Regular price £55.00

The Parker 45, named after the Colt 45 handgun, was introduced in 1960.  In 1964 an all metal, much more expensive model, the 'Flighter' was added to the range.

The original Parker 45 Flighters were not actually 'all metal' as the 'tassie' on the end of the barrel was plastic so in 1969 this was replaced with a metal Chrome plated version, as in this set.  It remained in production until 1979.

The set is in perfect, unused condition, although I have inked the pen for testing purposes. The brushed steel and Chrome show no wear and there is no shrinkage to the section, a common flaw with this pen.  The pen is fitted with the original 14Ct. Gold nib with a medium point.  It is a superb writer, delivering a smooth and consistent medium line with a very 'easy' action.

The pen is a cartridge/converter filler, the original ink converter is fitted and a new cartridge will be included so the pen is ready to write.
The pencil is a good size and is also in mint, unused condition.  It opperated by turning the cap to extend and retract the lead.  The eraser, found beneath the cap, appears unused and can be removed to access the spare leads stored in the barrel.
The set is presented in the original hard plastic case, also pristine, along with a cardboard outer.

Very much underrated, and undervalued, the Parker 45 Flighter is just about as indestructible as a fountain pen can be.  It is also extremely practical so it would make a great every day vintage writer.  It is rare to find a complete set in such superb condition.
