The Parker 51 Aerometric filler was introduced in 1948, this fine example, in Teal, was made, in England in 1958.
The Parker 'halo' was introduced and the cap lip removed in that year, as this pen has the halo on the cap and the box, and still has cap lip,1958 is a good date for the pen.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested, a thorough service is recommended for a 51 as the fine fins in the ink collector can become clogged, impairing perfrormance.
The pen body has a showroom finish and the 'Lustralloy' cap is also in excellent condition, it has no dings or other blemishes and has retained the semi matt finish. The chrome plated 'arrow' clip carries a pearl coloured cap stud.
The 14Ct. Gold nib is exceptional, it writes with wonderfully smooth line, perhaps a little on the broad side of medium. The holistic design of the 'writing end' of the 51 and the electropolishing process used to finish the nib contribute to the 51s reputation as an unsurpassable writer in rems of smoothness.
The original Parker 'halo' box and instruction leaflet are in sound, clean condition.
The Parker 51 is often referred to as the best pen that Parker ever made, it is certainly the most successful pen by any manufacturer and carries a great deal of prestige.
