The U.S.A. Parker 51 Burgundy colour, as in this pen, is much 'less red' than the English Burgundy, it is a very distinguished, almost 'chocolate brown colour'.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested and is in excellent condition throughout. The barrel and hood, constructed in 'Lucite' have a showroom surface and the ding free 'Lustralloy' cap is also in very good condition and has a clear pearl cap stud. The barrel carries a legible imprint stating that the pen was made in the U.S.A. along with a date code for 1955.
The aerometric filling system works well and the original pli-glass ink sac is only lightly stained so the ink level is still visible. The 14 Ct. Gold nib is an excellent writer, it produces a smooth and consistent fine line, perhaps a touch on the medium side of fine.
The contemporary Parker presentation box is clean, inside and out, and in good order.
The Parker 51 is the most successful pen ever produced, it is stylish, practical, and has a great deal of prestige.
