The Parker 61 was introduced in 1956 in the U.S.A. This Custom version, featuring a rolled gold cap and barrel 'tassie' was made, in England between 1962 and 1968. The capillary filling system was replaced by a cartridge/converter arrangement for 1969.
The pen has been serviced, tested, and is in good working order. The capillary filling system, which has no moving parts, has been thoroughly cleaned. The 14 Ct. gold nib writes with a very smooth medium line. The 'writing' end of the 61 is almost identical to that which had proved so successful in the Parker 51.
When desiging the 61, Parker took notice of the fact that many Parker 51 owners had apparently found it difficult to quickly see which way round to hold the pen so added the 'arrow' motif to the section. Many 61s are now to be found with this arrow missing but in this case the gold filled arrow is present and secure.
The pen is presented in a new velvet covered metal case which will serve well for transportation, protection, and display.
The Parker 61 Custom is an attracrtive, high quality vintage pen with an excellent 'pedigree' and a good deal of prestige.
