The Parker New Slimfold, sometimes referred to as the 'Slimfold Mk. ll., was introduced in late 1971. This pen was purchased in November of 1973 and has remained, uninked and unused, for fifty years.
Finished in Red with polished chrome trim, the pen is in perfect condition showing no signs of use. It came to me as an unused pen, complete with original box and instruction leaflet carrying the date of purchase.
The early pens all had Gold nibs but sometime later in production a plated nib was used. I removed the nib to check, and it is 14Ct. Gold. It is clearly stamped:
Parker. 14K. 585. Made in England
The pen was supplied new with an ink converter and cartridge, these are stored in the recess of the tray. The original hard plastic box is also in pristine condition.
The Parker New Slimfold had a relatively short production run and is one of the less common of the Duofold line. It is rare to find one in such complete, mint condition.
