The Parker Victory Mk. IV was made from 1948 to 1952. It is an 'A.F' button filler type, the letters denoting an Aluminium Filler. This pen was made in 1951.
This example, finished in classic black, is in excellent condition throughout. The barrel imprint carries a date code for 1951. It has a first class surface and Gold filling to the clip and cap rings.
The pen has been fully restored to full working order. This involved full disassembly, a thorough cleaning and checking of all components and replacing the ink sac and pressure bar. After reassembly the pen was given a light polish and fully tested.
The filling system works well and takes up a good volume of ink. The 14 Ct. Gold nib is stamped with an 'N', it was made in Parker's Newhaven works, one of the last of the Newhaven nibs. It writes extremely well, laying down a smooth, consistent, medium to fine line. The nib is firm but it has the pleasing 'soft' feel that Parker managed to achieve with many of its 14Ct. Gold nibs, it is an extremely pleasant and comfortable writer.
The original box is in good condition and contains a slip reminding the user that only Parker Quink ink with 'Solv-X' should be used. Over seventy years later Quink ink is still a global best seller.
The Parker Victory Mk. lV is, arguably, the best of the models bearing the name. The classic streamlined shape, tapered clip, and deep Gold filling blend together to give a pleasing, uncluttered appearence. At 15.5cm. when posted it is a long and elegant pen with a very solid, high quality feel.
