The Sheaffer Targa 1007 was one of the first Targas off the production line when the model was introduced in 1976. It is a Gold electroplated pen with a chequered pattern formed by finely engraved lines in groups of three vertically with a single horizontal line.
A full size version, the pen is in near mint condition and shows few, if any, signs of use, although it has been filled for testing purposes. The 14Ct. Gold inlaid diamond nib is spectacular in appearance and is a fabulous writer. It produces a beautifully smooth broad line, the horizontal lines are slightly narrower giving the opportunity for line variation if required. It is one of those nibs that almost insist that you write with a flourish!
The original Sheaffer metal ink converter is fitted to the pen for use with bottled ink and ink cartridges are readily available online.
At 15.5 cm. in length when posted the 1007 is a long and elegant pen with a solid, high quality feel. The cap fits securely into place with a satisfying click and posts securely on the barrel when writing.
The Targa line was in production for about two decades and was made in a huge range of finishes. The 'Geometric' is one of the most attractive and is becoming very collectable.
