The Waterman Expert Mk.1 was produced, in France, around the late 1980s. This is a mint, boxed example with no signs of use.
The Expert Mk.1 differed from the later versions in that it was lighter in weight, an important consideration at the time, had a slightly different trim, and a much more attractive, sculpted, flat sided, two tone nib with a distinctive elongated breather hole. The original pen, this one, had a relatively short production run and is quite rare and much sought after.
The pen is finished in red with a deep, lustrous shine and 23Ct. Gold filled trim. A cartridge/converter filler, the pen is supplied in the original, box, with the unused ink converter fitted, cartridges are readily available.
the pen has been inked for testing and then thoroughly flushed. It is a first class writer, producing a wonderfully smooth medium to broad line. The Waterman medium nibs do tend to the broader side, Sheaffer are towards the fine end and Parker somewhere in between. The ink flow is excellent, it is the kind of pen that encourages writing with a flourish.
A Waterman Expert Mk.1 is quite a rare pen and a mint example comes along very infrequently. It is a jewel of a pen.
