Waterman's Champion 501

Regular price £65.00

The Waterman's Champion 501 was probably made sround 1948, it bears a striking resemblence to the Waterman-Jif 'New Look' pens of that period.

Finished in black celluloid with Gold filled trim, the pen has been conservatively restored and is in very good condition throughout.  With only light usage marks, it has a good surface with a clear barrel imprint and excellent gold filling to the clip, cap band, and lever.

At 13.6 cm. capped and an impressive 16.2 cm. capped the 501 is a long, slim, and elegant pen, markedly different from and more modern in design than the more common  Waterman pens of the period.

The 14 Ct. Gold Waterman W2-B nib is unusual in that it has a broad stub profile.  This produces a pronounced difference in the thickness of the horizontal and vertical strokes, it would be very effective in the right hands.

The Waterman's Champion 501 is not a common pen by any means and one with a factory made stub nib comes along very rarely.  It would particularly suit someone with a large, bold 'Hand', given to writing with a flourish.
