The first De La Rue lever filler was introduced around 1922, this 560 model dates from the late 1920s. The hard rubber pencil was advertised as a 'Vulcanite De La Rue Pencil of Simplicity and Beauty' in 1922.
Both items are in excellent working condition with a first class finsish and very crisp and clear imprints. The pencil appears to be unused.
The pen has been serviced, fitted with a new ink sac, and tested. The filling system works well and the 14Ct. Gold De La Rue nib writes with a smooth line and offers a good flex.
The pencilhas a rolled gold band and operates by twisting the cap to expel the cap with a manual retract. It is stamped as 'patent applied for', suggesting an early model.
The De La Rue box is in sound condition with good hinges and a working clip. It is certainly the original box for the pencil as the cutout fits the pencil contours perfectly.
