The Parker 51 was made in the shorter 'Demi' version and also a 'Special'. This is a 'double variant', a Parker 51 Demi Special, it is a rare pen.
Made in the U.S.A. around 1950, the pen is in immaculate condition throughout with no signs of use, it could well be new old stock.
Finished in Navy Grey the pen features a polished steel cap with a black end stud, whereas the 'standard' 51s have a frosted cap with a pearl coloured stud. It is also about a centimetre shorter than the 51 with a slightly smaller diameter so it maintains the 51 proportions.
The nib is made from an alloy of eight different materials which Parker named 'Octanium', it is identical in size and shape to the gold nibs used in the full sized 51s and performs remarkably well.
The Parker 51 Demi Special was not a great seller and didn't have a long production run so there are very few survivors. A pen such as this, in virtually new condition is exceedingly hard to find and highly collectable.
