The Parker 61 Custom capillary filler, identified by the gold cap, arrow motif, and clutch ring, was made, in England from 1964 until 1969. The English factory didn't start making the 61 until 1964 and the 'Aerometric' filler was introduced for 1969.
This example is in outstanding condition throughout, it has a good surface and retains the arrow motif on the section. The rolled Gold cap is ding free, the gold filled clip is straight and secure and the original pearl end stud is in good order.
The colour is not at all common and is very striking. The last photograph shows Rage Red alongside a similar pen in the 'maroon' or 'burgundy' colour.
The capillary filling system has been cleaned and flushed and works well. The 14Ct. Gold nib has a medium point, which produces a super smooth line, it is a pleasure to use.
The long, slim, Parker hard display case, only used for the 61, is original and in excellent, clean condition.
It is quite unusual to see a Parker 61 Custom in Rage Red, particularly in such good condition. Although clearly a vintage item it is robust and reliable, it would make an excellent every day user.
