Parker Duofold Senior in Red. 1954.

Regular price £95.00

The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first Aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'.  This Senior pen was made in 1954 one of the first to be produced, the Senior was discontinued in 1958.

The pen is finished in red with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and Gold filled clip.  It is in excellent condition with a very good finish and the gold filling has held up very well.  The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a quarter turns and carries a red cap jewel.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested.  The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well, the ink sac is unstained.  The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35, stamped with a '4' for 1954, nib writes with a smooth, medium line and has a slightly 'soft' action.  Slightly on the fine side of medium, it is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer.

The Duofold Senior is a very large pen, 16.3 cm. (well over 6 inches), in length when posted for use.  It is well balanced and has a solid, high quality feel.

The Parker box is the correct one for the year, the corners have been repaired but it is almost certainly original and should be kept with the pen.

The Senior topped the line up of the Duofold aerometric models until the introduction of the Maxima.  It is now very collectable,  it is not at all easy to find a first year pen in such good condition.
