Parker Duofold Senior in Black. Extra Fine Nib. 1954-1958.

Regular price £95.00

The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'.  The Senior was the largest of the U.K. Duofolds at the time, it was superceded by the Maxima in 1958.

The pen is finished in black with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band, the wider one in this case, and gold filled clip.  It is in excellent condition with a super finish and the gold filling has held up very well.  It appears to have missed the barrel imprinting but is undoubtedly a Senior. The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a half turns and carries a colour coded cap jewel.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested.  The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well.  The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib writes with a smooth, extra fine line, ideal for someone with a small 'hand' or for more detailed work.  The extra fine nib was offered as an option but, judging from their scarcity, was taken up rarely.

The Duofold Senior is a very large pen, 16.3 cm. (well over 6 inches), in length when posted for use.  It is well balanced and has a solid, high quality feel.

The Parker box, used until around 1956, has a 'doodle' but is in very good, clean condition.  it is almost certainly original so should be kept with the pen.

The Senior topped the line up of the Duofold aerometric models until the introduction of the Maxima.  It is now very collectable and not at all easy to find in such good condition.
