The Parker Duofold Slimfold, added to the Duofold line in 1962, was produced in the Parker Newhaven factory in U.K. It was produced in four solid colours: Black, Blue. Green, and Red, all with Gold filled trim and an 'Aerometric' filling system.
Despite the name the Slimfold is a very comfortable 14.5 cm. in length when posted for use, only marginally shorter than the Parker 51. In use it is a good sized, and very elegant pen.
This set, comprising a fountain pen and propelling pencil, is in first class condition throughout. Fully serviced and tested, it is finished in red with a Gold filled clip and decorated cap band. It has an excellent surface and gold filling with clear imprints and a deep shine.
The 'Aerometic' filling system is an easy to use 'squeeze bar' arrangement which works well and takes up a good volume of ink. The original 14 Ct. Gold No. 5 nib is straight and well aligned. It is an exceptional writer, providing a smooth line with enough flex to give line width variation, adding character to the writing.
The matching Parker No.3 pencil has a smooth rotary action, the lead is extended and retracted by twisting the cap. New leads can easily be fitted through the cone when required.
The set has been provided with a new presentation box and outer sleeve, it will serve well for protection, transport, and display.
The Parker Duofold Slimfold is often underrated and seriously undervalued, new Gold nibbed pens start at well over £100. This example is a very serviceable, attractive, and reliable Gold nibbed pen set with an excellent pedigree, and it is a truly vintage fountain pen.
