The Sheaffer Targa was introduced in 1976. The instruction leaflet with this pen is dated 1983, which is consistent with the production date for this model, the 1006. It is a solid Sterling Silver pen with a chequered pattern formed by finely engraved lines in groups of three vertical and a single horizontal line.
A full size version, the pen has been fully serviced and tested and is in excellent working condition. The 14Ct. Gold inlaid diamond nib is spectacular in appearance and is a great writer. It produces a beautifully smooth medium to broad line, it is one of those nibs that almost insist that you write with a flourish!
The box and instruction leaflet are is clean, sound condition.
The original Sheaffer metal ink converter is fitted to the pen for use with bottled ink and a new ink cartridge is provided so the pen is ready to write in either configuration.
At 15.5 cm. in length when posted the 1006 is a long and elegant pen with a solid, high quality feel. The cap fits securely into place with a satisfying click and posts securely on the barrel when writing.
The Targa line was in production for about two decades and was made in a huge range of finishes. The Silver 'Geometric' is one of the most sought after and is becoming very collectable.
