Burnham No. 54 in Marbled Pink and Burgundy. 14Ct. Gold Flex Nib.

Regular price

One of the Smaller Burnham pens, the No. 54 was made, in England, around 1950.

The pen has been restored and tested and is in excellent working condition throughout.  The unusual and very attractive pink/burgundy marbled finish has an excellent surface with a very crisp and clear barrel imprint.  Unusually for a Burnham, the Gold plating to the clip and twin cap bands has held up very well.

The cap is a screw fit, it tightens smoothly with two and a quarter turns.

A new ink sac has been fitted and the lever filling system works well.  The nib is 14 Ct Gold and carries the imprint:

Burnham

14 Ct. Gold.

Super Quality

The 'Super Quality' designation is not seen very often.  The nib delivers a smooth, medium line and has a good flex, it would be very effective in the right hands. The ink used in the writing sample is Diamine Syrah, I think it suits the pen very well.

At 12 cm. capped and 14.2 cm. posted the 54 was possibly intended as a 'ladies' pen but was not advertised or listed as such.  It probably did not sell as well as the larger pens and is now not easy to find, particularly in this colour and condition.
