Burnham, an English company, made pens and pencils from the 1920s to the 1960s. The style of this pencil suggests an early date, perhaps 1930s.
It is a 'no frills' mechanical propelling pencil, the emphasis more on function than appearance although the Green colour is very unusual and attractive. The Gold fill on the clip has also held up very well.
The pencil works well, turn the cone one way to extend the led and reverse to retract.
The 'one piece' barrel construction is usually found in early pencils, Burnham moved to a two part construction, and generally mottled colours during the 1930s.
The pencil is in excellent condition, it would make an interesting 'every day writer'.
