The Conway Stewart Dinkie fountain pen was made, in a bewildering variety of styles and finishes, from the early 1920s up until 1972. This pen, the 'Dinkie 550' is a 1950s version.
Finished in 'Marbled Blue' with Gold filled trim, it is a small lever filling pen with a 14Ct. Gold Conway Stewart semi flexible nib.
The pen is in good condition generally but it does have a small distortion in the cap, it is only noticeable when the cap catches the light, I've tried to show it in the photograph.
Fully serviced and fitted with a new ink sac, the pen writes with a medium line with a suggestion of flex that offers a little line variation.
The Dinkie 550 is quite a collectable pen but I would describe this more as a 'user grade' because of the cap distortion. This is reflected in the price making it a real bargain as a vintage daily writer.
