The Onoto 22, the company's only venture into aerometric type filling systems, was made in the late 1950s. It is a rare pen.
This is a remarkably attractive set, comprising a fountain pen and mechanical pencil. It is finished in a bright striated green pattern with the distinctive Onoto black barrel end and matching cap studs. The barrel imprint, identifying the pen as an Onoto 22 with a medium nib is crisp and clear. The Gold trim on the pen and pencil is in pristine condition.
The set is in excellent condition throughout, showing very little sign of use. The ink sac has been replaced as the original had hardened with age. The nib is bright silver with a super finish, it writes with an exceptionally smooth, medium line and has a pleasant 'soft' feel.
The pencil is perfectly matched to the pen and also carries the Onoto 22 imprint. It has a smooth rotary action and operates by turning the cone to extend and retract the lead.
The set is presented in a new, high quality gift box, it shows the set off very well.
The Onoto 22 is a hugely attractive pen with an excellent pedigree. A pen/pencil set in this condition only comes along very, very rarely.
