The Parker '17' Lady was introduced into the Parker Duofold line in 1964 and replaced with the Parker Lady Standard in 1968, a relatively short production run for a Doufold.
This is a fine example, it is in excellent condition and still has the chalk marks identifying the pen as a '17 Lady'. These marks were meant to be rubbed off by the retailer and are very fragile, they would rapidly disappear with use.
The pen is finished in Green, the least common U.K. Duofold colour by far. Green pens did not sell well at the time, presumably something to do with the perception, by those of a superstitious nature, that green was an unlucky colour.
The Gold filling to the clip and cap band is pristine, the finish is good, the ink sac unstained, and the imprint strong.
Although the Parker Lady is not a particularly rare vintage pen, mainly due to its success in the global market, it is nevertheless not easy to find one in such good condition, particularly in green. It is a very much underrated Gold nibbed vintage pen.
