The Parker 51 Aerometric is, arguably, the finest pen ever made. This near mint fountain pen, finished in Black with a 'Lustralloy' cap and pearl end stud is a fine example.
The body of the pen is flawless, the ding free cap has retained its original frosting, and the original 'pli-glass' ink sac is unstained. This suggests that the pen has seen very little use.
The 14 Ct.Gold nib performs very well, producing a very smooth and consistent fine line. Although the hooded nib design precludes any flex, the nib has a 'soft' and forgiving feel, quite rare in a nib with a fine point.
In 1965 the filler sleeve was changed to a one piece design, as in this pen. In 1969 the model changed to a version with a flat end to the barrel, meaning that this pen can be dated between 1965 and 1969.
The pen is presented in a Parker box, probably the original, which is also in excellent condition.
The Parker 51 has gained a reputation as a top quality, reliable and stylish pen that performs very well and has a great deal of prestige. It is the first choice as an every day writer for many fountain pen enthusiasts.
