The Parker '88' was launched, not surprisingly, in 1988, although it was available at the end of 1987. This pen is an early, top of the range, '88 Corinth' in fluted Silver plate with maroon section and end caps.
The Corinth gets it's name from the fluted stone pillars of the buidings in the ancient Roman city of Corinth in Greece.
In 1988 the Corinth was priced at $70 and went up to $80 in 1991. In 1992 the 88 Mk.1 was discontinued, later models all had black end caps and sections. The short production run and relatively high price of the top of the range model does promote 'collectability' of that particular pen at some stage in the future. Conequently pristine Corinths, such as this pen, are not at all easy to find.
