Parker Duofold Aerometric in Red. Superb Condition.

Regular price

The Parker Duofold , along with the smaller Demi version, was the first Aerometric Duofold to be made in the Parker U.K. Newhaven factory, in1953.  This pen dates from the mid to late 1950s.

The pen is in outstanding condition, it has a very bright 'factory' finish and the Gold filling to the clip and decorated cap band is pristine.  The clip is secured by a colour coded 'jewel'.

The pen has clearly seen very little, if any use, the original 'pli-glass' ink sac is totally unstained and has maintained full transparency to allow monitoring of the ink level.  Near mint condition Duofolds do not come along very often.

At 13.2 cm. capped and 14.7 cm. posted the Duofold is a decent sized pen in terms of length but is a good deal wider than most, giving it a very solid, chunky feel.

The satin lined Parker presentation box, almoast certainly original, is also in sound, clean condition.

The Parker Aerometric Duofolds of the 1950s were excellent writing instruments which sold very well, despite the competition from the ballpoint.  Parker probably under-priced the pen in order to resist the pressure.  Around seventy years later the pen is still outstanding value, particularly when compared with a new Gold nibbed pen of similar quality.  It is claerly in collectable condition but would also make a very good vintage daily writer.
