The Parker Parkette, which began life as the Parco, was made from 1932 to 1941 then, as a completely different pen with the same name from 1950 t0 1952. This pen carries a date code for the second quarter of 1937. The vast majority of Parkettes were made in U.S.A. but a few, including this pen, were made in Canada.
The pen is constructed in celluloid with a rather beautiful multi coloured marbled pattern and gold filled trim. The clip is loose, this is reflected in the price, but the gold filling has held up well. The finish is bright and vibrant and the imprint, slightly worn, reads 'Made in PARKETTE Canada'
The filling system works well and the 14Ct. gold nib is straight and well aligned, it writes with a firm, fine line. The nib is stamped U.S.A. quite usual for Canadian pens, and carries a '27' date code for the second quarter of 1937.
The Parkette was the first, and one of the very few, lever filling pens made by Parker and is now quite collectable.
