Parker Duofold Slimfold in green with 18Ct. Gold nib.

Regular price

The Parker Duofold Slimfold was added to the line of very successful U.K. Duofolds in1962. It was offered in just four solid colours: red, blue, black, and green with green being, by far, the least common, probably because of a common superstition, at the time, that green was unlucky.

This pen is most unusual in that it has an 18Ct, not 14Ct. Gold nib, it is one of a very limited number of pens made strictly for export to France.  At the time, in France, for any object to be advertised as Gold it had to be at least 18Ct., otherwise it was advertised as 'alloy'.  Fortunately it has now been repatriated.

The pen is in excellent condition throughout, it has a good surface with a clear barrel imprint and the Gold filling on the chevron decorated cap band and the clip is bright and shows no brassing.  It should be noted that there are no cracks to the cap lip, this is a common, and usually undisclosed, fault with these pens.

The original 'pli-glass' ink sac is unstained, usually a sign of little use.  The 'aerometric' filling system is easy to use and has stood the test of time well.  The nib has a fine point and writes with a smooth, fine line, ideally suited to someone with a small 'hand' or for more detailed work. It is a very easy writer and, despite the name, the Slimfold is a very comfortable 14.7 cm. in length when posted for use, only marginally shorter than the Parker 51.

In the least common colour, excellent condition, and having the 18Ct. Gold nib, this pen is clearly very collectable but would also make an unusual, attractive, and practical daily writer.
