The Parker Sonnet was introduced in 1994 as a 'top end' replacement for the Parker 75, which Parker felt was now looking dated.
In 2003 the Sonnet, now made in France, was given a 'facelift', some designs were discontinued, and a few new models, including this Matte Black G.T., for 'Gold Trim' was added to the range. This pen carries a date code for the third quarter of 2004.
The pen is in unused, immaculate condition and could well be 'new old stock'. It is presented it the original, high quality, 'clamshell' box along with an unused de luxe ink converter and ink cartridge so it is ready to write in either configuration. The instruction leaflet is also included and the outer cardboard sleeve has a label identifying the pen as a 'Sonnet Matte Black FP Med. G. BX.', There is no doubt that the pen is authentic and the packaging is original to the pen.
The Sonnet is a classic 'cigar shaped' pen with clean lines and a very solid, well balanced feel. This pen has a matt black surface, no fingerprints to worry about, and 23Ct. Gold plated clip, cap band and nib.
At 5 1/4 inches capped and 6 inches when posted it is a good sized, well proportioned pen. Despite being made in France, Parker still hung on to the imperial measurements!
