The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'. It was discontinued in 1958, so it had a relatively short production run, always a good sign for collectors. This is the last of the Seniors, it has a date code for 1958.
The Senior was made in the four standard Doufold solid colours: Red, Black, Blue, and Green with the Green pen being, by far, the least common.
The pen is finished in Green with a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and Gold filled clip. It is in excellent condition with showroom finish. The cap is a smooth screw fit, it tightens securely with one and a quarter turns and carries a Green cap jewel.
The pen has been fully serviced and tested. The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well. The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib is larger than the standard Duofold nib and writes with a super smooth, fine line and has a slightly 'soft' action. It writes with virtually no pressure and is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer. The pen would particularly suit someone with a small 'hand' or for detailed note taking or annotation.
The Parker presentation box is correct for the pen and almost certainly original. It is in good, clean condition with an unstained interior.
The Parker Duofold Senior topped the line up of U.K. Duofolds until it was replaced by the Maxima in 1958. It is now quite difficult to find and is becoming very collectable, particularly in green.
