Parker U.K. Duofold Senior in Green. 1954.

Regular price

The Parker Duofold Senior was added to the U.K. Duofold aerometric line in 1954, a year after the first aerometrics, the 'Standard' and the 'Demi'.  It was discontinued in 1958, so it had a relatively short production run, always a good sign for collectors.  This is the first of the Seniors, it has a date code for 1954.

The Senior was the largest of the Duofolds with a posted length of 16.3 cm.  It was made in the four standard Doufold solid colours: Red, Black, Blue, and Green with the Green pen being, by far, the least common.  At the time green was considered, by those of a supersticious disposition, to be an unlucky colour so sales were relatively low.

The pen has a Gold filled, chevron engraved cap band and Gold filled clip.  It is in excellent condition with showroom finish. The cap is a smooth screw fit, and carries a Green cap jewel.

The pen has been fully serviced and tested.  The aerometric filling system is easy to use and works well.  The correct 14Ct. Gold No. 35 nib, stamped for 1954, is larger than the standard Duofold nib and writes with a smooth, medium line and has a slightly 'soft' action.  It writes with very little pressure and is a very comfortable and 'easy' writer.

The Parker Duofold Senior, topped the line up of U.K. Duofolds until it was replaced by the Maxima in 1958.  It is now quite difficult to find and is becoming very collectable, particularly in green.
