Sampson Mordan & Co. were the foremost makers of Silver mechanical pencils in the Victorian era.
This fine example, in excellent condition condition throughout, is elaborately decorated and carries a clear makers' mark and blank cartouche.
It has a smooth slider mechanism which closes the pencil from 11.5cm. to 8.8 cm.
An unmarked bloodstone is set int the finial, which is a smooth screw fit.
Sampson Mordan pencils are extremely collectable and much sought after. Condition is obviously a very important consideration, this pencil scores very highly in this respect.
