Made by the Birmingham silversmiths, Marson and Jones, this Sterling Silver capstan inkwell carries a very clear hallmark for 1926.
It is in very good condition, with a few light user marks, and is complete with the original glass liner. The hinge is sound and has a patent 5655/10, which has clearly been hand stamped.
The inkwell base has a diameter of 6.7 cm, it is 4cm. high and weighs 98g.
A high quality and well kept item, it is clearly a collector's piece but would go very nicely on a desk with a vintage dip pen.
