Wyvern 60 Open Nib Version

Regular price

Made in Leicester, the Wyvern 60 first appeared in 1931 as a 'flat top' pen.  In 1938 it was completely redesigned as a slim, streamlined pen with an exposed nib, this pen, and in 1951 the 'new style' version with a semi hooded nib was introduced.  The late pens were stamped as 'The Perfect Pen No. 60'.

This example has been fully restored and tested, and is in excellent condition throughout.  It has a first class surface with a bright finish and a clear barrel imprint depicting the Wyvern logo.  The Gold plating has also held up well.

The filling system works well, a new ink sac was fitted.  The 14 Ct. Gold nib is stamped with the Wyvern, a mythical dragon like creature that features on the Leicester coat of arms.  there is a slight kink at the end of the nib but, as the pen is an excellent writer it was thought best to leave it alone.  It delivers a broad line with flex, plenty of opportunity to produce impressive, bold writing.

At an impressive 16.2cm. in length when posted this pen is significantly longer than the semi hooded nib version, it is a slim, elegant pen.
