The hard rubber Swan SF130 was made, in the U.K., in the 1920s. At 10.7 cm. capped it is one of the smaller Swans but, with a posted length of 13.5 cm. it is perfectly comfortable in use.
The pen has been conservatively restored and is in excellent working condition. It has a good surface with a light, even brown patina, crisp imprints, and three Gold filled bands, The cap is a smooth screw fit, tightening with one and a half turns, it has a mottled hard rubber end plug.
The 14Ct. Gold nib was made in New York, not uncommon at the time as Mabie Todd U.K. was still importing nibs from the parent company at the time. It has a stub profile, giving a broader vertical than horizontal line. This provides line width variation effortlessly to add character to the writing.
A favourite with collectors, the Swan SF130 is a high quality pen which, after about a hundred years, is still performing its job admirably.
