The Burnham B48, injection moulded model was produced in 1956 and was the last of the Burnhams, the factory closed at the end of the year, although some pens were still appearing into the 1960s.
Harry Burnham started the Burnham pen company, in England, around 1920 and it produced a great variety of fountain pens until it folded, partly because of the infamous 'ballpoint effect'.
The pen is an aerometric filler, very similar to that used by Parker at the time, it is efficient and easy to use. Interestingly, the filler sleeve is stamped 'Waterman', it is known that Burnham had some association with Waterman in it's later years, perhaps the filler was bought in.
The nib is the original Burnham Gold plated B48 steel nib with a medium point.
