The Caran d'Ache Madison with the distinctive 'sword clip' was produced, in Switzerland, in the 1970s.
This example is in mint condition showing few, if any signs of use and is supplied in the original box, with guarantee leaflet, clip tag, and ink cartridges. An ink converter ia fitted to the pen so it is ready to write in either configuration.
The pen is of metal construction, with a matt black adonised finish, heavily Gold plated trim and solid 14Ct. Gold nib.
At 13.7cm. capped and and 14.2 cm. posted for use the Madison is a very comfortable and well balanced pen with a solid, high quality feel. The cap 'clicks' onto the stud at the end of the barrel when posting to prevent the lip of the cap coming into direct contact with the barrel.
The Caran d'Ache Madison is a slim and elegant pen, this matt black version is quite striking. It is also not at all easy to find, particularly in such outstanding condition and is a top quality pen that carries a good deal of prestige.
