Conway Stewart No. 60 Sterling Silver pencil. Fully hallmarked

Regular price

This 'The Conway No.60' pencil is made from solid Silver and hallmarked for 1939, the barrel, clip, and finial are individually stamped.

The pencil is in first class condition throughout, it has no dings or personalisation.  The barrel is decorated with  a fine chased wavy line pattern with a blank cartouche.

The rotary extend and retract mechanism, which operates by turning the finial, is smooth and efficient.

The box is almost certainly original andis in reasonable condition.  For some reason these Conway boxes were made to look aged when brand new.

The Conway No. 60 pencil is a very rare item, Jonathan Donahaye, in his excellent Conway Stewart guide has only seen one, found in Brisbane, Ausralia:

The pencil is a good size, 13 cm., and has a very definite high quality feel.  Whilst the rarity and condition of the pencil qualify it as extremely collectable it would also make a very fine daily user.
