Danish Parker VS Custom. c.1947. A Rare Pen.

Regular price £135.00

The Parker VS, 'Vacumatic Successor' was introduced in late 1946 and the aluminium filler version, this pen, was discontinued for 1948.  This pen, made in Denmark by the Christian Olsen company, has a rolled gold cap.

Restored and tested, the pen is in excellent working condition.  It has a first class finish and a worn, but legible, 'anchor' imprint signifying its Danish origin.

The nib, 14Ct. Gold, is simply stamped 'Parker'. It writes with a smooth line and has a small but effectuive flex.  The AF, aluminium filler, works well with a single press of the button.  The AF system was used for some U.K. made Duofold pens from 1948 to 1953.

The custom version of the pen, characterised by the 1/10 12Ct. rolled gold cap, is extremely rare, the only one I've come across.  Strangely, the cap has a '51' imprint, although it is clearly a VS cap, the clip was only used on the VS and the cap does not fit a 51.  It's possible that the Olsen company adapted a 51 blank to procuce the cap, possibly a prorotype.

The VS was only made for a short period of time and did not sell particularly well so there are very few survivors.  A Danish Custom version is a very rare and highly collectable pen.
