The De La Rue Dainty was introduced in 1937, this is an early model, perhaps up to 1940.
The pen is very attractively finished in marbled Green with a Gold filled 'teardrop' clip bearing the De La Rue Logo and a thin cap band.
A lever filler, the pen has been fully cleaned, serviced and fitted with a new ink sac.
The 14 Ct. Gold De La rue nib writes with a medium line with a good amount of flex, someone with a decent hand would produce impressive results.
The Dainty was probably intended to compete with the Conway Stewart Dinkie. Although it feels a much more substantial pen than the Dinkie it didn't sell as well, probably because it was more expensive. As a result these pens are quite hard to find and one in this condition turns up very infrequently.
