The Esterbrook 'J' double jewel series was introduced in 1948, the earliest products, such as this U.S.A. made pencil, didn't have the 'R' registration symbol on the imprint.
The pencil is finished in 'Copper', one of the more hard to find colours. The 'double grooved' design of the clip is carried through to the cap band.
The pencil has been serviced and is in good working condition it has a continuous feed mechanism, activated by pushing the cap to extend the lead. At 12.5 cm. in length, it is a full sized pencil, often sold as a set with the 'J Pen', but also available as pencil only.
An extremely attractive and functional pencil, it would make an unusual vintage daily writer.
