Eversharp Skyline Demi in Army Brown. 1942-1948

Regular price

The Eversharp Skyline was produced, from 1942 to 1948, in three sizes. 'Executive', Standard' and 'Demi', this pen at 12.6cm. capped and 13.6 cm. posted.

The colour is often described as 'Burgundy' but has only a very slight red tinge and was named 'Army Brown' in the Eversharp literature.  It looks much darker in the photos, I would describe it as chocolate brown.  The full wrap around clip and ring are heavily Gold filled and have held up very well.  The pen has a first class finish with a deep shine.

The cap is a very smooth screw fit, tightening with two and a half turns.  It posts securely on the end of the barrel. Unlike the other two sizes the posted cap totally covers the lever, on the larger pens the cap lip fits against the lever, leaving some of of exposed.  When posted, the Demi looks better in this respect and is more in keeping with the ultra streamlined design.

The pen has been restored and tested and is in outstanding working condition.  The filling system operates well and the 14ct gold nib has a pleasing flex from fine to broad, adding character to the writing.

Although the shape and proportions of the Skyline may now appear 'quirky', in the 1940s so called 'modernity' was all important and this pen had a great aesthetic appeal. In collectable condition, it would also be practical as an every day writer.  The outrageous design shouts '1940s'!
