The Swan 3360 was one of the first pens produced by Mabie Todd after the cessation of WW2 hostilities in 1945. The main factory in Harlesden London was destroyed by German bombs in the 'blitz' in 1940 and the few machines that were rescued were put to work for the war effort for the duration of the war.

The model number, 3360 is not hard to decipher. The first digit is the filler type (3 for a lever filler), the second digit is the nib size (3), and the last two digits give the colour (60 for 'black'). The pen with a size 3 nib has 3 cap bands.

At over 15 cm. with the cap posted and a 1.2 cm. girth it is a good sized pen with quite a 'chunky' appearance . It has a well balanced and high quality 'feel'.

The pen has been restored and tested and is in excellent working condition. It has a first class surface and excellent Gold filling to the clip, cap bands, and filler lever.

The barrel carries a clear and sharp imprint with the Swan trade mark and :

Swan self-filler.

The barrel end is stamped '3360' and 'Swan' is imprinted on the and the feed.

The filling system has been overhauled and works well. The 14 Ct. Gold nib has a good amount of flex giving line width variation and adding character to the lettering. My scrawl does it little justice, in the right hands it would produce imprecssive results.

The box is new, it will serve well for transportation, protection, and display.

The Mabie Todd Swan 3360 is not a common pen, by any means, and this pen would warrant a place in a Swan collection but it would also make a great daily writer.
