The Mabie Todd Swan L303 was made between 1935 and 1939. It was at the top of the line and marketed as a 'gift pen'.
A large, substantial pen, the L303 is a leverless model, it fills by twisting the knurled button at the end of the barrel. The system has been professionally overhauled and is in perfect working condition, filling well with just one operation of the button.
The 14Ct. Gold size 3 nib, correct for the year, is a superb writer. It provides a wonderfully sommoth and consistent medium line and requires no additional pressure. It has the pleasing 'soft feel' often associated with high quality vintage nibs.
An outrageously attractive pen, it is in excellent condition throughout. with only a very light capping mark, it has a first class surface, no plating loss or dings, and a clearly engraved pattern.
The original case, also correct for the year, is in very good, clean condition with sound hinges and closure.
The L303 is an extremely rare pen, as it had a relatively short production run and was very expensive so did not sell in high numbers. It has all the attributes of a highly collectable pen.
